The Orchestral Conducting Studio offers a world-class education under the guidance of Dr. Germán Gutiérrez, combining rigorous academic coursework in music history and theory with extensive podium time.

In the Orchestral Conducting Studio, you’ll gain exceptional conducting experience with a wide range of orchestras, from children's and youth groups to college, community and professional ensembles. As assistant conductors, you'll have valuable opportunities to collaborate with the music director and observe rehearsals firsthand, including:

  • Conducting fellow with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra
  • Assistant conductor for the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra
  • Assistant conductor for the TCU Symphony

DMA in Orchestral Conducting

DMA students also collaborate with renowned faculty in choral music and wind ensembles, broadening their expertise across multiple disciplines. The program’s selective admissions process ensures ample podium time for each student, fostering growth and mastery. Recent graduates have secured prestigious music directorships and teaching positions around the world.
